Description
Quebra Pedra (Phyllanthus niruri) is a small annual plant that is found in the Amazon Rainforest and other tropical areas of the world including India, where it is mentioned in ancient Ayurvedic texts, and the Caribbean.
In Peru it is known by its Spanish name of Chanca Piedra - which means 'stone breaker'. Quebra Pedra leaves are traditionally brewed to treat Kidney and Gall stones, and prevent stone formation.
In Ayurvedic practices it is also used to treat UTIs.
There are no known interactions with the herb - and recent human trials have indicated that it is safe for long term use.
